The Hog's Breath Café has my man date approval. This man-cave at Glenelg will make any bloke feel comfortable. License plates hang from the wall, salt and pepper are stored in beer bottles, the Hogs Breath is a castle and 'how's the serenity.'
Without stereotyping and apologises to all the male vegetarians, but most men love steak and chips. It's my favourite meal because I'm a simple creature with simple needs.
The beauty about the Hog's Breath is they do the simple things extraordinary. It's the only place you can go where the steak has been slow-cooked for 18 hours and one of the few places that do curly fries. Curly fries are the most underrated method of cooking potato. It's adventurous, it's exciting and for some unknown reason, the fries taste better when curled. This Hog's Breath twist on the classic steak and chips meal is what keeps you coming back for more.
Another thing which will ensure you return is the service. When you go to the Hog's Breath they treat everyone like it's their birthday. The attentive waiting staff and quick efficient service seems to make a perfect steak taste even better.
Speaking of the perfect steak, I'm sure all those people who like their steak well done are lovely human beings with kind souls, but I cringe and shudder at the thought of a steak being ruined. I feel you don't even have the right to have a perfectly slow cooked steak if you are going to rob it of its flavour.
This is why well done steak lovers and non steak lovers should order something else from the extensive menu. Perhaps try the lunch time value deals. For $9.90, you can enjoy a Chicken Caesar wrap with curly fries. It's light, refreshing and a great alternative to a heavy steak meal. The BBQ Beef wrap was also described as a fun alternative. It takes a while for the BBQ flavour to hit, but once you do, it's all the more satisfying.
