Part of a franchise first started in Airlie Beach, Queensland in 1989, Hog's Breath Café pride is their 16 hour slow cooked Prime Rib Steak, though they also serve a good range of non-steak dishes as well. All of their dishes are accompanied with your choice of Hog Tail Fries, mashed potato or baked potato and steamed vegetables or a salad.
The Bryon Bay Chilli Prime Rib is one the dishes from the famous 16 hour slow Prime Rib Steak range, featuring rib steaks with a variety of seasonings or toppings. Although we chose to order our steak cooked to medium-well, it was still very juicy with a delectable char-grilled flavour. The Bryon Bay Chilli sauce helped to lift the flavour of the steak but be warned that it can be spicy to those not used to spicy foods. The Hog Tail Fries were fried to golden brown with fluffy insides.

During our visit, we also ordered the BBQ Sweet Chilli Beef Ribs and Lite Cut Prime Rib & Panko Prawns from a range of dishes that was offered for a limited time. The prime rib steak in the Lite Cut Prime Rib & Panko Prawns was very succulent with the crispy Panko Prawns being a tasty partner to the steak. It came with a serving of sweet chilli sauce that you can dip the prawns and steak in.

The beef ribs in the BBQ Sweet Chilli Beef Ribs was tender enough to easily fall off the bone and the BBQ Sweet Chilli sauce helped to enhance the flavour of the ribs. The ribs also had a generous amount of meat on them to make eating them an enjoyable experience.

Wait time for the dishes was typical for most steak restaurants but the delicious dishes made the wait worthwhile. Ambience is very good with a good amount of parking space on Gouger Street and the U Park located within walking distance of the restaurant. It is advisable to arrive early if you plan to dine there on Thursday and Friday nights as it is very popular during those times.
