Are your little munchkins looking for some action this Halloween but you're not convinced about knocking on strangers' doors? Head down to Memorial Park in Bulimba where there's plenty of mischief and mayhem at
- a free community event aimed at primary school aged children and their families.
Whilst Halloween isn't historically an 'Aussie' tradition, there's no doubt that through American TV shows and our increasing multi-culturalism (after all, it was actually a Celtic tradition if we really want to split hairs) that our kids want a slice of the pie and
Hocus Pocus in the Park plans to carve out our own tradition for the local community to celebrate.
Funded through The Lord Mayor's Suburban Initiative Fund and local sponsors Downtown Toyota, Jason Chaffey and Cathy Richards of Place Estate Agents, Kick Dance Studio and Carnival Parties and Workshops there will be a great range of activities, competitions and prizes.
"After the enormous and unexpected popularity of last year's event, we have been working overtime to make sure Hocus Pocus 2013 has something for everybody. There will be apple bobbing, two jumping castles, three face painters, a disco, and a fancy dress competition judged by our "Screamometer". We hope you can join us at this magical event for our littlest ghosts and ghouls, witches and goblins" - Councillor for Morningside Shayne Sutton
The children will each receive some take home treats, and there will be a sausage sizzle available for purchase at the event manned by volunteers from Sts Peter & Paul's School, Bulimba with proceeds being donated to St Vinnies.
The event will kick off straight after school and will close just early enough for those who have organised Trick or Treating to attend to go door knocking on their way home.
