Hochi Mama Vietnamese Restaurant

Ho Chi Mama is found on Liverpool Street at the Paris end of Bourke Street. I have been lucky enough to visit Vietnam twice, and have been to
Saigon twice. Before I visited
Saigon, I had already had a long time long affair with Vietnamese food since I can't remember when. In my university days, I had spent many an evening extending my palate at the myriad of Vietnamese restaurants down
Victoria Street in
Richmond. I have been blessed enough to have many wonderful food memories of
Pho, Banh Mi and Bao from
Saigon, so finding this place was a revelation and takes Vietnamese food in Melbourne CBD to a new level.
It was lunchtime when I went and the place was busting to the seams with people. The table service was prompt and after waiting for two of my favourite Vietnamese dishes, it was well worth it. On the first bite, I was transported back to the taste, smell, sights and sounds of Saigon. The pork belly was tender and the fat was crunchy. The broccoli was also delicious. I made sure that the Chef knew I liked it as the plate went back clean.
The lunch special is particularly good value at $19.90. The menu is short but packs a punch with all the regular great Vietnamese dishes like Pho, Rice Paper Rolls and Bao.
If you enjoy Vietnamese food, add this to your list of places to go!
