H.J Daley Library

Harley James Daley served as Campbelltown's Town Clerk for an astounding 41 years. It is no surprise that Campbelltown's main library – the H. J Daley Library - was named after him.

The library is located in the centre of Campbelltown, directly opposite Koshigaya Park. It is possibly the most attractive of the libraries in the area - being larger and having more facilities than the other Campbelltown branch libraries.

The library is divided into a number of sections including a children's area, a large print books section and a generous study area with individual study rooms. These are invaluable for students and others doing intensive research or study.

There are a surprising number of biographies at this library. Some of the famous people whose biographies are available here include Buzz Aldrin, Dame Judy Dench, Jane Fonda and Ryan Gosling.

There is also an impressive variety of books from other languages including Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Marathi, Tagalog and Vietnamese.

There is a generous children's area and an ongoing and interesting set of programs for children at the library throughout the year.

Aside from the more self-evident uses of a library, this place is fantastic if you just want a somewhere to chill out, or wait for a friend. Peruse the aisles of books or settle yourself in the newspaper corner. It is located in the study area so it's easy to while away your time, catching up on the news in relative comfort and quiet.

You can access the computers at the library if you are a member, and this is free of charge. Bookings are necessary and it is a good idea to book before turning up at the library - to ensure that you are able to get a place. Booking can be done over the phone or in-person at the library. Free WiFi is also available for members who bring their own devices. Usernames and passwords are available at the front desk and allow use for a limit of 2 hours.

It is also good to know that the H. J Daley library offers a free home library service for people suffering from illness, disability or incapacity related to age. However, there is particular eligibility criteria for the home library service.

Among the other attractive features of the library include its convenient location – 5 minutes walk from the Campbelltown railway station, toilets, available free parking onsite, outdoor benches, and a giant outdoor chess set.

If you live or work in the Campbelltown area, you can become a member for free by signing up at the library. You can then begin using the libraries' services immediately. Membership at the H. J Daley Library also entitles you to use the facilities at all of Campbelltown's branch libraries .
