One of the most fascinating Australian Renaissance architect, JJ Clark (23 January 1838 – 25 June 1915) was born in Liverpool, England. He produced some of Australia's most elegant and notable public buildings in Melbourne and interstate. You can chalk up the Melbourne Treasury Building and Melbourne City Baths to his repertoire, and by the end of his career he was probably Australia's most respected hospital architect, having designed the Melbourne (Queen Victoria) Hospital, amongst others.

Hosted by the Stonnington Library and Information Service, this particular J J Clark event in the series of History Matters will be held online for FREE on Wednesday 29 July 2020 from 11am to 12pm. REGISTRATION is required to attend. Journalist and Associate Professor Andrew Dodd, Director of the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne and author of the biography, JJ Clark Architect of the Australian Renaissance delves into the history of this renaissance architect. You'll find the book at the Library.

Sounds fascinating. I believe he was only 19 or so when he designed the Treasure building.
