One of the aspects of the
Adelaide Fringe Festival I look forward to is the vast variety of theatre productions offering unique and entertaining events. And that quite often includes the unexpected.
[ADVERT]One such theatre production, which is sure to be an exciting challenge, is the play
His Ghostly Heart written by Ben Schiffer. Schiffer is renowned for his contribution in writing the teen drama
Skins and
50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, which he wrote collaboratively with four other young playwrights. About
His Ghostly Heart Schiffer said, "I wanted a change. To let the dark make me clean, heal me."
His Ghostly Heart allows the audience to eavesdrop on two lovers during an unnerving private moment, which is staged completely in the dark. With Schiffer's writing, the audience can expect to feel the character's emotions and their inner thoughts as the drama unfolds.
The Australian premier of
His Ghostly Heart will be performed at
Holden Street Theatres in the Manse, at Hindmarsh. It is directed by Martha Lott, who in 2009 directed the 5 star award winning
Scarborough at Holden Street Theatres and was awarded Advertiser Fringe Award 2009.
His Ghostly Heart stars Sara Lange and Hjálmar Svenna. Lange performed in
Miller & Moore Presents and along with Adelaide Duende Collective performed in
Slicing and Dicing. Svenna starred in
Sexual Perversity in Chicago, produced by
Accidental Productions .
With only seating for 20 audience members in the room, booking is essential. The performance has a 30 minute running time, and is completely in the dark. "The walls breathe with our reactions as the twists unfold."
