Forget lazing on the beach, when you can laze in the water with Hippos.



This summer at Werribee Open Range Zoo, the kids will delight at Hippo Beach and forget breaking the budget, if they are under 16 they receive free entry every weekend, Victorian Government school holidays and public holidays!

You can relax whilst they play under fountains and splash in the water jets in the Hippo Splash water play zone.

To add to the fun, there are a series of wooden channels, pumps and weirs that allow them to change the ebb and flow of the water too.

Careful though relaxing adults, as the kids (or you) can also spin the wheel and spray family and friends with water from the hippo's rear end!

If you don't feel like doing much, you can relax in hammocks and deckchairs and watch real live hippos snoozing nearby on the banks. Refreshments are available at Hippo Beach café.

Want to make it more educational? Sure, you can join in a special Hippo Keeper talk. Wander along the boardwalk to see the Hippos at close proximity, whilst learning about these amazing animals and the threats they face in the wild.
