To be completely honest, there are a limited number of clubs in Perth that cater to listeners of hip hop, r&b and reggaeton on a Friday night. And it is even harder to find such clubs with an older age group and are less likely to elbow or shove past you on their way to the bar or on the dance floor.
But if you may, reminisce on the good old days of Ruby Room, Varga Lounge, Margeaux, Base and Bluprint, allow me to present to you a short but well selected list of clubs that might just meet your hip hop flava needs this Friday night.
Play Fridays at the Beat Nightclub, 234 William St Perth This place (thank the heavens) does not attempt to mix in Commercial Dance or Pop music over the course of the night like most other clubs. Nothing wrong with other genres of music but if a club promotes itself with a particular genre, it should stick with it. And Play Fridays certainly prides itself in doing so.

Spanish Fly at The Deen, 84 Aberdeen St Northbridge This is an oldie but a goldie. Proven to meet the taste buds of Latin music lovers, head to the outdoor area and dance the night away to the sounds of Sean Paul, Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and much more.
Free entry all night long. Lock out at 1pm. Image source: Spanish Fly Facebook
The Ellington at 191 Beaufort St Perth For a classy night out, the Ellington turns up the groove on Friday nights from 10.30pm with live jazz, soul and r&b performances from local and international artists. Great atmosphere and there is a small dance area if you do feel like dancing.
Tickets range from $10 (bar) to $20 (tables) / Image Source: The Ellington
And if all else fails, call a couple of your friends over and turn up the music from Flava which is an online hip hop and r&b music station from New Zealand. DJ Manchoo will remedy the need to boogie on down to your favourite hip hop beats.
