You wouldn't think Hindley St and fine dining. While there's a few upscale restaurants along the notorious road, the street is known for its clubs and pubs. Bringing those two key ingredients to a Friday night together is the new HQ complex with its adjoining restaurant and bar, . Opening late October last year, the HQ's new location could help give the tired nightstrip a fresh look, even in the daytime. With The Hindley trading for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late nights, you don't have to be partying upstairs in the club to enjoy a meal.

Head chef, Shane Piercy, has 20 years under his belt in some of the most notable restaurants in and around Adelaide. The menu showcases his adaptability and versatility with a mix of classic pub meals and refined modern dishes, meaning there's food suitable for different tastes and dietary requirements. A few months into opening and the menu is starting out simple with room to grow as the restaurant learns the desires of its guests. At this early stage, this restaurant is great for all needs, whether a casual meal, afternoon beverages or more extravagant tastes.

Before we talk food, let's talk wine because The Hindley is a bar after all and it could be where you start your Saturday night before heading upstairs (or heading home if you're too full to dance). The restaurant plans to showcase local wines with the help of Brenton Ford from Oatley Fine Wine Merchants. Brenton is very excited to talk about the launch of table wines from Seppeltsfield including a Riesling, Grenache and Shiraz. What I'm excited about is that The Hindley is a licensed takeaway bottle shop, so I can finally take home a bottle of that white wine I liked with my dinner, instead of taking a picture of the menu and tracking it down at Dan Murphy's the following weekend. The Eaton Valley Riesling is a stand out for me with its floral notes and slight lemon taste at the end.

If you're hitting up The Hindley on a Friday night, then their happy hour will get you in a good mood. To complement the flowing drinks they have beautifully presented canapes featuring barramundi, salmon and more. Talk about how beautiful the colours are and your colleagues will be swooning at after work drinks.

For those treating themselves to a three-course dinner after a long day working in the city, or even just tired from shopping, then there's plenty to choose from. While their oysters and scallops look tasty and high-class, I was interested in the animal-friendly entrees. Wood oven halloumi with sweetened currants and walnuts melts in your mouth. The creamy texture and syrup-like flavour will put a smile on the faces of even those with a gluten or lactose intolerance. While the world has been blessed with halloumi cheese, I can never pass up arancini as an entree. It can be a real hit and miss but this restaurant is on to a winner with their tomato and mozzarella balls.

Now, if you've come looking for a classic pub favourite then there's something for you. From wood oven roasted free range chicken and 6 hour slow cooked lamb shoulder to the mammoth 1kg rib eye steak served with hand cut chips and roasted baby carrots. However, after I heard head chef Shane talk about their pizza dough they spent 3 months working on until they were happy, I knew I had to try their wood oven pizzas. The pizza would surely please even the pizza traditionalists with its fresh tomato base and gooey mozzarella.

Only have time for something sweet? Stop in for some heart-warming and Insta-worthy desserts. Why not keep cosy and warm with a sticky date pudding topped with butterscotch sauce and double cream? Or maybe lighten things up with a baked lemon tart garnished with fresh berries. Or watch your friends drool over your creme brulee with poached pear, especially when you crack the dessert open.

Thanks to The Hindley, your eating out option before a night of clubbing isn't limited to shisha bars and nasty fast food joints. And for those looking for a spot of Sunday brunch the morning after, a mid-week office lunch or even dining at home, thanks to UberEATS and Deliveroo, don't overlook The Hindley.
