Great views over Hinchinbrook Island and the rivers meanderi
The Hinchinbrook Lookout is located alongside the Bruce Highway, approximately 19 km north of Ingham. As the name suggests, this stop has great views over Hinchinbrook Island and the rivers meandering through the rainforest down to the ocean. These channels between the coast and Hinchinbrook Island are well known as great fishing locations.

Hinchinbrook Channel and Island were special country to the Bandjin people. The Hinchinbrook Lookout is standing in the World Heritage Wet Tropics area and from here you can gaze at the beauty of the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef.

The site has car parking, even suitable for RVs, an interpretative shelter and a short walking trail up to another lookout, the Panjoo Lookout. Take your time to view the Hinchinbrook Channel and Hinchinbrook Island while relaxing on providing benches around the interpretative shelter.
