Recently on a short five day trip to Launceston and it's surrounding areas, my travelling party were looking for things to do and sights to see in and around the area when we came upon the
Hillwood Strawberry Farm. Located just 20 minutes out of Launceston, it is a great place to pop into if you want to hand pick some juicy fresh strawberries, see some farm animals, and enjoy some local produce.

Feel like fresh strawberries? Just grab a bucket or container and head off to the fields to pick yourself some fresh, juicy, succulent strawberries. The staff will let you know which plot is ready for picking.

We were told to head to the furthest plot and on our way there, we walked past a pig pen where two sociable pigs named Truffles and Stubby resided, along with some ducks as companions.

There was an abundance of strawberries so it didn't take long for us to fill up our container before we headed back into the shop to get our pickings weighed.

Can't get them any fresher! Strawberries from Hillwood
There is a cafe inside the main building where you can find a variety of local produce from the farm itself. A range of wines, cheeses, vinaigrette, jams and chutneys from other local producers is also available for purchase at Hillwood.

Outside the Hillwood Strawberry Farm cafe
Grab a coffee and a cake if you feel like enjoying the scenery. There are benches outside the cafe, a giant chess board and even a sand pit for kids to play in.

Definitely a place worth stopping by if your in the mood for some delicious strawberries/fruit picking. Staff are friendly and welcoming and it's a great tranquil setting where you can enjoy the scenery and relax, and only a short drive out of Launceston .
