Hidden dining gem tucked behind St Lucia
Having lived in St Lucia for the past 4 years (and thinking that I was an expert on all things St Lucia), I was so surprised when I stumbled upon this hidden gem tucked behind the main hustle and bustle of St Lucia one weekend. Hillstone @ St Lucia Golf Links consists of the Hundred Acre Bar and Restaurant, and its premier event space with 3 function rooms in a separate building.
The Hundred Acre Bar and Restaurant serves breakfast and lunch daily, and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. Upon entering Hundred Acre, I fell in love immediately with the cosy atmosphere and furnishing. The bar and restaurant has an open air dining concept, while overlooking the golf club. Ample heaters are placed around the place ensuring that you are warm during winter. Throws are also placed around every chair as a considerate thought for those with bare legs in winter.
The breakfast menu is as good as the brunch places you get in New Farm. The only drawback is that breakfast is only available Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 10:00 am and Saturday to Sunday, 8:00am until 10:30am. This means that one has to be a rather early riser in order to get their teeth on the great food.
I have tried their special "Hundred acre bar breakfast with charred ciabatta, fried eggs, chicken sausage, mushrooms, bacon, cheesy tomato, spinach & kasundi", and the "smoked salmon benedict with toasted muffins, poached eggs, hollandaise, spinach & salmon pearls" for breakfast, and both were really good. The portions for the Hundred acre bar breakfast was large enough to be shared among two if you are a small eater. The Salmon pearls were an additional delight to the usual Eggs Benny and it added to the overall flavour of the dish.

Another bonus is the free ample parking available at Hillstone. I have yet to try the lunch and dinner menus but I would highly recommend Hillstone as a great place to bring your family and kids for a meal, while it could also serve as a romantic place for a date, especially during the night when the golf range and buildings are lit up. It is also a beautiful place for a special event or wedding.
