It’s out with the dragon and in with the snake as Chinese New Year rolls in this year, signifying a time of transformation, growth and introspection. The slithering Chinese zodiac symbol for 2025 will bring loads of colour and activity across many cities and Sydney’s The Hills District is on board with its own festive celebration.
Food, fun and culture are the order of the day with an unforgettable Lunar festival in Castle Hill that will see locals and visitors alike enjoying the area’s rich cultural diversity and vibrant community spirit in a 7-hour feast of the senses.
Cultural food stalls will serve up mouth-watering Asian treats to savour, including dumplings, steaming bowls of ramen, dragon beard candy and crispy Hong Kong bubble waffles, to name but a few delights.
The stage comes alive with the beats of drums, traditional Chinese dancing and other captivating performances, whilst fun seeing the young ones mesmerised comes in the form of free craft station activities that include trying their hand at calligraphy, creating their own clay snakes and having their faces painted.
Lunar New Year decorations will abound here in this Year of the Snake event, adding to the atmosphere. Two wishing trees will stand amongst them, offering attendees a special opportunity to write and hang their wishes for the year ahead.
Enjoy the fireworks show too and take pleasure in immersing yourself in the spirit that marks the first new moon of the Lunar calendar. It’s a time for gathering with family and friends to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the new year with optimism.
Taking place in Arthur Whitling Park, attendees are encouraged to catch public transport to Castle Hill Metro Station (which is conveniently located next to the park).
