Do yourself a flavour with veg from family farm to table
Are you looking for a new, more connected way, to buy your vegies each week? Do you wish you could practice the paddock to plate philosophy, know where your food comes from and how it was grown? Then Hillfields Farm is the new food economy for you and you can say goodbye to the big two. Just 10 minutes from Ipswich and 30 minutes from Brisbane, Hillfields Farm grows an abundance of the tastiest, freshest, organic produce available in the Ipswich Region.
By joining up to Hillfields Farm, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) run by the wonderful and passionate Dan and Mel, you can forge long lasting relationships with your farmers and enjoy local, organic small scale farming at its finest.
CSA is a food initiative where the community essentially buys shares in the farm and the famers grow and harvest produce just for their participants. In this way we can connect with the farmers who grow our food, supporting them and sharing the risks and rewards of producing food through both good and poor harvests. What this means though is that your weekly box of organic magic will be subject to the whims of mother nature, rain, heat, bugs and bees. It is important that you can look at your vegies knowing they are what is in season and then plan your meals rather than planning what you want and shopping for produce, regardless of whether it is in season. But don't worry, Mel and Dan have great relationships with other organic producers so there is always an abundance of produce. They also have gluten free foods, organic fruit boxes and organic meat packs available from local producers. Talk about convenient.
Hillfields Farm is slightly different to the traditional upfront payment for a season of produce. Mel and Dan are eager to make their farming style as accessible as possible and offer a weekly or fortnightly "subscription". Weekly or fortnightly boxes of the freshest organic produce provide a share in over 50 varieties (throughout the seasons) with access to their farm's pastured free range eggs and raw honey .
You can collect your share at the farm each Sunday between 10-1pm or have your box delivered to your door every Sunday after 1pm.
As a member of the Hillfields Farm family you will be united with fellow foodies on an adventure of real food discovery. They now offer a weekly meal plan based on the produce available for the week including recipes and a shopping list to make it super convenient. Their Facebook page for members is also a thriving support network of celebration and encouragement of this farmer and consumer relationship.
