In the world these days there is a lot of good going on. There are many organizations doing good, helping people, fighting for the impoverished, feeding the starving and war torn. Organizations like Amnesty International are amazing with all the things they do.

They have been around since 1962 and now in 2014, have over 7 million supporters worldwide. They help those in need whose human rights are violated. They have defenders in the court rooms, and on the ground in hazardous situations where they are needed. To keep all this going they need to fundraise on a grand scale.

With this in mind they have partnered with Inspired Adventures to bring about their Hike the Homelands campaign on the Larapinta trail, outside of Alice Springs, to be undertaken in July 2015.

They want to bring awareness and continue to help with the Aboriginal rights. The people of the Larapinta trail, a 263 kilometre stretch in the Northern Territory, is a rough and rugged place that is known as their homelands.

Two trips have been scheduled, the first is full already. Yours truly has signed up and will do this 65 kilometer hike, where we will sleep under the stars and walk by day for 5 days.

Now you can join me. All information can be found on the Amnesty International website. Go to "Get Involved" then head to "Fundraising" and look for the trip you would prefer to take, there are a handful of exciting options. Be a human rights defender - take the plunge, pick a trip and start to fundraise. You can Cycle Cambodia, take the Kilimanjaro Challenge, or like me, you can Hike the Homelands in outback Australia.

Fundraising is then the name of the game.

With this in mind, I am holding a Silent Auction at the Fig Tree Pocket Montessori on the 6th of December in Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane. There will be sports memorabilia for auction as well as a host of other items. Tickets are $11.50 and cover entertainment and canapés. You can go here and type in Amnesty Silent Auction for tickets and more details.

If you can't make the auction but would like to make a tax deductible donation you can go right to the sight . Click on Support a fundraiser and look for Help Sharon Hike the Homelands. I will donate all of my income generated from this article so pass it on to your friends.

Thank you so much for giving me this platform to share my fundraising with you. And thank you for believing in the rights of your fellow human beings.
