Darling Harbour in Sydney is one of the most popular places, with its restaurants, water views, and places of interest for all. It is also one of the most popular vantage points and sites to visit during Vivid. Close enough to the city to have access to great shops and transport, Darling Harbour is a thriving precinct that is sure to have something for everyone throughout the year, whether it is seasonal events or things to see and do all year round.

Sydney Sea Life Aquarium

Sydney Sea Life Aquarium is one of Darling Harbour’s main attractions, and is in the heart of the main area of Darling Harbour, just across the water from the Australian National Maritime Museum. Home to over 4,000 animals, the Sydney Sea Life Aquarium is very popular with locals and tourists, giving you the chance to explore a variety of marine zones, learn with a touch pool, and explore the reef with a VR experience with a pre-booked ticket. This is a great day out for the whole family -just make sure you plan ahead!

Chinese Garden of Friendship

The Chinese Garden of Friendship offers a place of tranquillity amidst a busy city and city precinct. You will find it between Darling Square and Darling Quarter and celebrate the traditional Chinese landscape and the spirit of Sydney. It is filled with peace and culture and gives you a quiet place to contemplate your day. The gardens are a symbol of the friendship between Sydney and Guangzhou in Guangdong, China, and have a restaurant and tea house to complement your visit.

WILD LIFE Sydney

Ever wanted to explore the Australian outback and wilderness without leaving the city? Head over to Wild Life Sydney Zoo for the best way to check out Australia’s best-loved animals if you can’t make it to the outback. It’s next to Sydney Sea Life Aquarium, so if you’re planning on visiting both you can save and buy a daily ticket for 2-4 attractions, which also includes Madame Tussauds Sydney and Sydney Tower Eye. Australia has a Big Five here – the iconic Australian animals – koala, saltwater crocodile, wombat, platypus, and kangaroo. Like the Aquarium, there are ten interactive zones to explore and a chance to meet a koala.

Australian National Maritime Museum

The maritime history of Australia is broad and diverse, and much of it is at the Australian National Maritime Museum. It covers maritime history as far back and as diversely as possible, showcasing the various connections that Australians have to the sea, from Indigenous history to migration and naval history. With exhibitions and artefacts that capture everything possible, to decommissioned and historical vessels to explore, the Australian National Maritime Museum has it all.

These are just four places to go that are popular in Darling Harbour, so there will be something for everyone – follow what you enjoy and you will find it!
