Fremantle's Finest High Tea
High Tea at The Esplanade Hotel is advertised as 'Fremantle's Finest High Tea' and it could very well be right. Treat yourself to an elegant and very delicious High Tea - served every Sunday afternoon between 3pm and 5pm.
Be entertained by live music from the Promenade Lounge Bar as you sip your tea and nibble on delicate sandwiches and pastries. Relax in the refined atmosphere, surrounded by the sounds of happy chatter and the clink of fine china.
When we arrived at The Esplanade Hotel, the place was already full of happy people enjoying a wonderful, traditional High Tea in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We were seated quickly and our order was taken by a lovely waitress. We didn't have long to wait until the beautifully presented food arrived.
We were brought a three-tiered platter overflowing with sweets and savouries. The bottom tier held the sandwiches and savouries, the second tier had a selection of plain and fruit scones and the top tier was full of sweet pastries and yummy tarts.
The ribbon sandwiches went down well and there were a couple of different types including cucumber and smoked salmon. The scones were very nice, not too dry or hard, and very tasty when covered in jam and cream. The lemon meringue tarts were fluffy and tangy, the mini custard pots (taste a bit like crème brulee) and the fruit tarts were all equally tasty. All of this was accompanied by cups of fresh tea and coffee and the whole lot was polished off at a leisurely pace.
There are two types of High Tea to choose from at The Esplanade Hotel. The Classic High Tea consists of a selection of pastries and sweets, freshly baked plain and fruit scones served with strawberry jam and whipped cream, a variety of savoury items such as home-made sausage rolls and an assortment of freshly made finger sandwiches. This High Tea comes with a choice of premium teas or freshly brewed coffee. The Sparkling High Tea includes all of these delicious foods plus a glass of sparkling wine.
Either one of these High Tea options is great value and well worth the money, we only just managed to finish all the delightful food and left feeling very full. The Classic High Tea is $27.95 and the Sparkling High Tea is $34.95.
So spoil yourself and have High Tea at the Esplanade Hotel one Sunday Afternoon. You'll be glad you did and you'll probably go back again - we plan to.
