Based on the book by David Simpatico and the 2006 Disney channel original movie by Peter Barsocchini, this production of High School Musical 2 is produced and directed by Shane Davidson with music by Bryan Lousiselle and choreographed by Sarah Humeniuk.

The pre-show was a taste of what to expect and it definitely delivered. We saw songs from Cats the Musical including Bustopher Jones, The Naming of the Cats, Maccavity and a solo from Jade Leyden as Grizabella singing Memory. This was just beautiful to watch. She really did the song justice and it was impressive to see such a mixed age group singing and soloing lines throughout the Cats performance.

Following Cats were three incredible renditions of songs from Les Miserables starring Che-Leigh Jaffer as Fantine singing I Dreamed a Dream, Stella Rasheed as Little Cossette singing Castle on a Cloud and Katie Olsson as Eponine singing On My Own. No amount of words would give these performances the praise they deserve. This is the future of theatre right here.

The opening act came to a close with songs from Wicked . Charlie Miller & Jade Leyden were born to play their roles as Galinda and Elphaba. Wicked the Musical's songs are so fun and these girls looked like they loved their characters and the songs they were singing. They sang Popular and What is this Feeling?/One Short Day alongside a cast of more than 60 students.

High School Musical 2 starred Ned Baulderstone and Amelia Sanzo as Troy and Gabriella. It's summer vacation and the gang needs to find summer jobs if they want to have money to enjoy the summer.

They end up working for Sharpay's (Charlie Miller) father's country club, which seems fine until they decide to try out for the talent contest and have a chance of beating Sharpay for the Star Dazzle Award she wins every year. After Gabriella (Sanzo) beat her for the school musical she wasn't about to let that happen again.

Sharpay makes Troy (Baulderstone) promise to sing with her and when she mentioned her father is on the committee board at the university he plans to attend, he agrees. Troy's father needs him to get a scholarship to university, because they can't afford to send him. Already worried about his future Troy joins forces with Sharpay.

Upset about being pushed aside, Ryan (Harry Fielder) joins the Wildcats team and helps create a new piece starring himself, Gabriella, Chad (Matthew Daniell), Taylor (Chelsea Lancione), Martha (Jade Leyden) and Zeke Baylor (Harry McGinty) with the help of the musical stylings of Kelsi (Tia Rodger).

Featuring all your favourite songs including What time is it, Fabulous, Work this Out, You are The Music in Me, Humuhumunukunukapua'a, I Don't Dance, Everyday, Gotta go my Own Way, Bet on It and All For One. Overall this was a great rendition of a popular movie that you can't help but sing along to. 5/5 Stars.
