Where is ?

If it wasn't obvious enough, is situated in the heart of New South Wale's High Country, specifically near the Snowy Mountains in Cooma. Cooma has nicknamed itself the 'Gateway to the Snowy Mountains', due to its growing industry as a rest stop for travellers venturing to the New South Wales snow fields during colder months. It is possible that the name 'Cooma' was derived from the Aboriginal word 'Coombah', meaning 'big lake' or 'open country' - the latter definitely gives a good representation of the area in which is located. was first established in 1962, and was built in the typical alpine-style housing found throughout the area - with many of its original characteristics preserved (albeit with more modern facilities), take a trip back in time during your stay here!

What was your experience of ?

I did not have any issues of any kind when planning and booking my stay, nor did I have any issues during my visit - the whole process was simple on effortless on my behalf, made easy by wonderful customer service from Joo-Siew Kwan, the Manager and Proprietor of . Joo-Siew responds quickly to queries through email (and no doubt through phone too), and was very friendly and accomodating during my stay. She was lovely to chat to, and judging from her interactions with other guests, obviously has a natural talent for making others feel welcome. Joo-Siew was very patient even though I locked myself out of my room on more than one occasion - thank you for your hospitality!

What are the rooms like at ?

Rooms at are your typical motel style inspired rooms with many facilities efficiently compacted within the room. There are 40 ground-floor units of which 19 are family rooms (which can accommodate up to 9 guests) - otherwise, choose from a single, twin, or double room. Each unit is equipped with an ensuite bathroom, a TV, fridge, clock radios, tea & coffee making facilities, electric blankets, a desk, and lounge chairs - basically, the rooms in have everything you need, complete with a picturesque view of lush green that give you the impression that you are living amongst the trees. Eddy and I opted for the single room as we were travelling just the two of us, and found that it was a comfortable size for the both of us - we much preferred to spend more time outdoors exploring their 4.4 acres of gardens and bushland anyway!

Can accomodate larger groups of people?

Sure can! As mentioned before, has 40 ground-floor units of which 19 are family rooms (which can accommodate up to 9 guests). They also have a large fully equipped conference room can cater for small and large functions up to 120 people - contact directly about weddings, christmas parties, conferences, workshops, special occasions, family reunions, school excursions, and group tours. No group is too big here at - they're 4.4 acres big!

Is there food and drink available on site at ?

If you're feeling peckish, don't worry, because you have many options to choose from at . Despite there being no main street noise from the motel, is within walking distance to the nearest supermarket, where you can pick up something to satisfy your hunger. Otherwise, has a fully serviced and licensed restaurant and bar at their reception area - you don't have to venture off premises unless you want to. Their restaurant caters for both those looking for a snack (I opted for a fruit platter), and those looking for a filling meal (they have, for example, steak or steamed fish available). Plus, there's free wifi at reception which works a treat. You can also order room service for a small surcharge. If you're craving a hot drink, provides guests with mugs, a kettle, and packets of tea, coffee and milk in rooms - feel free to make yourself a cuppa at any time of the day. You can also make use of their barbecue facilities and cook your own food.

What other facilities does offer guests?

There are microwaves available in the reception area that guests can use, free of charge. For the business men and women, offers business services including typing, fax, photocopying and printing facilities. In regards to recreational facilities, there is also a table tennis and pool table in the same area. Guests are also welcome to take a dip in their outdoor swimming pool, set against a beautiful view with green mountains as the background. Otherwise, feel free to engage the brightly coloured resident bird in some one-on-one time - it sure loves the attention!

Are dogs allowed at ?

If you couldn't already tell from the photos, yes, dogs are more than welcome here at ! The only rules are that dogs must be quiet and not disturb guests living next door (or any other guests for that matter) - easy, done and done!
Note: There is a $25 surcharge for bringing a dog with you during your stay.

It's my first time in the area, can help me plan out my itinerary?

I would definitely recommend checking out Nanny Goat Hill Lookout , a mere 3 minute drive from . And of course, no trip would be complete without seeing one of Australia's 'Big Things' - take a beautiful scenic drive through rolling country hills to visit the iconic Big Trout in Adaminaby, just 30 minutes away by car.

However, for larger-scale activities that may require advance booking and/or transport to get to the meeting point, offers a range of guided tours in the Snowy Mountains area, including whale watching, ANZAC memorial tours, and Christmas/New Years celebrations. For more information, check their website under 'Tours', or contact directly through phone (02 6452 1111) or email ([email protected]).

Thanks for having us, we were very happy with our room and the facilities available at , the service we received, and of course, the reasonable price we had to pay in return!
