in the Lockyer Valley is a paradise for those who love to get out onto the trails and explore. The property includes over 110km of world-class trails that can be used by mountain bikers, trail runners, or hikers.
Hidden Vale is about an hour's drive west of Brisbane. This means it is also easily accessed by those living in Ipswich and Toowoomba. Visitors are welcome to bring their own mountain bikes, although
hire of mountain bikes and eMountain bikes are available near to the entrance. Although competitive events are held on these trails, there is plenty for the whole family. This includes a training park area where kids and their parents can learn and test out new skills, and many kilometres of well-maintained trails running through shaded bushland.
Maps of the trails are available
here . There are also occasional, unexpected items of interest. Kids are often delighted by this crashed plane sitting at the junction between two of the trails.
People and equipment are catered for here. Once you come off the trails there is a purpose-built area to wash down your bikes.
There is also a tea garden and restaurant for refuelling everyone before embarking on your drive home. The Spicers Hiddenvale Barn serves a "Mountain bikers meal" of a burger, fries, and beer for $25.
Hidden Vale recommend you check the weather and trail conditions
here before you leave home to avoid disappointment. Detailed reports on each trail include things such as "Trail has been brush cut. Some sections still require raking with excess grass and loose rocks to be removed. Trail work in progress."
Access to costs $10 per adult and children under 16 are free with a paying adult. All funds go towards the continued development and maintenance of the trails within the park.
