Kangaroo Island is a place of great natural beauty. The beaches, long-standing lighthouses, Seal Bay, Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch are all wonderful locations to visit.
On my second trip to Kangaroo Island I was keen to see more of its hidden treasures.
Rustic Blue is a great place to visit early in your island holiday. The beautiful photographs on the walls may even suggest new must-see destinations to add to your itinerary.

This place is a treasure trove! Here you will find art, crafts, gorgeous gardens, native animals, unusual gifts, a cafe and movie memorabilia.
Coralie and Smiley have created a beautiful environment in which to showcase their works of art, photography and jewellery. Displays of clothing, home wares and jewellery by 30 other talented artists adorn their renovated shearing shed.
Once you have enjoyed a good browse or stocked up on presents for special people OR hunger overcomes you, the cafe provides a short menu of interesting choices which can be enjoyed inside or overlooking the gardens. [BREAK]

Time ticks slowly here and you know the wildlife will not steal your food as you savour the peace and beauty of this oasis.
Movie-buffs and motorbike enthusiasts will take pleasure in the presence of the Triumph Bonneville America used in the filming of
December Boys featuring Daniel Radcliffe and Jack Thompson.

Driving on the Main South Coast Road you will come to
Rustic Blue 8kms after leaving Vivonne Bay. Big red flags announce the entrance.
[SECTION]Sea Spray Café[/SECTION]
Sea Spray Café is a pleasant lunch stop with views overlooking the sea at Penneshaw.
The decorating was quirky, attractive and comfortable. There was plenty to browse with stunning art work by
Neil Sheppard adorning the walls.

One of my travelling companions is the guitarist in the
Buzzrays . I could have asked for a little pre-lunch entertainment. The inviting lounge area of the Sea Spray Cafe included table games and a guitar!
[BREAK]
Our party enjoyed our coffee and BLTs. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even brought additional sauces to accompany our potato wedges, when asked.
[BREAK]
Sea Spray Cafe is located at: 52 Thomas–Wilson St, Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island.

[SECTION]Stokes Bay[/SECTION]
No matter how many brochures you read about Stokes Bay, the magic remains to be discovered by each brave explorer that ventures through the rocks.

Stokes Bay is reached through a short rocky hike through the cliffs.

It is a moderately challenging trek that requires some agility and head-ducking, but my parents (in their 80's) rose to the challenge and were rewarded with the beauty of calm clear water lapping the sandy beach.

[SECTION]Fridge Doctor[/SECTION]
I suspect Fridge Doctor is pretty good at breathing new life into old fridges.
[BREAK]
Fridge Doctor is also an awesome gardener. I am a great admirer of the clever juxtaposition of man-made art in nature.
[BREAK]
A quick foray into his garden revealed an outdoor bath in a Bali hut. Nearby a scarecrow motorcyclist was answering a quick call of nature.
[BREAK]
Bright sea shells, birdfeeders and totem poles adorn the gardens. I liked the Mexican inspired colours of a cactus garden in a wheelbarrow.
[BREAK]
You might even spot the Old Woman who lived in a Shoe.
Fridge Doctor is near Island Beehive, Kingscote.
[BREAK]
[SECTION]Lover's Lane[/SECTION]
Not far from Island Beehive, Kingscote, my eye was captured by the street sign 'Lover's Lane'.
[BREAK]
I turned the car in to the tree-lined lane. Unlike the majority of other dirt roads on KI, this one was quite rough.
[BREAK]
I will leave you with this view and the opportunity to explore this hidden treasure on your own, or even better, with a special someone!
