About an hour north of Cairns is Port Douglas. On a recent trip to far North Queensland, we enjoyed a scenic drive from Cairns to Port Douglas. In Port Douglas is a lovely little cafe/restaurant called Hi Tide.

Hi Tide on the Esplanade
Hi Tide Cafe is located on the Esplanade and overlooks 4 Mile Beach. My husband and I decided this was the perfect place for brunch after our drive.

Beautiful views
We were seated out on their open deck with a fantastic view of the beach. Just the right location to enjoy our coffee and latte while waiting for our meals to arrive.

Chai Latte with a view
The menu is updated throughout the year in line with obtaining fresh, seasonal produce from tropical North Queensland. For breakfast this particular day, I enjoyed smashed Avocado with 2 poached eggs on pumpkin toast with charred corn and chilli lime salsa ($19)

Smashed Avo
My husband polished off the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon ($19)

Eggs Benedict
The casual, modern relaxed cafe/restaurant is located at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel and is open 7 days for all-day light snacks or beverages with breakfast from 7am, lunch from 12pm and dinner from 5.30pm.

Hi Tide on the Esplanade
It is licenced and they advertise Sundowers at the bar every evening from 4.30pm with Happy Hour drinks. My husband and I both agree that it would be good to return to enjoy this. The tropical climate with the gentle ocean breeze would go well with any of their cocktails on the menu.

Lookout at Port Douglas
After we enjoyed our breakfast, we ventured into the busier part of Port Douglas and strolled through the markets that were on, continuing our tropical experience.
