Unless you're walking past it, you'd be hard pressed to find out too much about Hey Brew Cafe. There is no website, no Facebook page, and no Twitter feed. You'd be forgiven for thinking this lunch spot had only just popped up, but they've actually been around for a while now.
They're open for breakfast and lunch, or just whenever you want to stop off for a quick drink.
The sandwiches are served on deliciously chewy ciabatta bread, which is always a good place to start. There are a few chicken options, like the 'Satay Chicken' with grilled marinated satay chicken, young tomatoes, cucumber, pickle red onion, and peanut sauce, or pick a vegetarian or steak sandwich instead.
Some of the more interesting choices on the menu include the 'Pulled Pork' with slow roasted bungalow pork shoulder, sambal aioli, savoy cabbage, and apple vinaigrette, or the 'Short Rib' with Javanese beef ribs, Purple cabbage, kim chi, and honey-dew melon.
There are coffees and tea (including green, ginger, peppermint, and chamomile teas), as well as milkshakes, smoothies, and fruit shakes. If you're lucky you might get to try some of the more interesting flavours like the Plum or Roselle fruit shakes, but they're not always on the menu.
It's a fresh and airy cafe, you can grab a seat by the window and watch the world go by, or pick one of the tables for four. You can even sip your coffee on one of the outside benches on a nice day. It's a pretty casual place whether you're grabbing a bite to eat or a drink.
Hey Brew is a fun and colourful cafe, and it does some mighty fine sandwiches too.
