A return to The Ginger Cat
He's Cancelled, Sophie Ranald, rom com, funny, romantic novel, British novel,

Natalie is over the moon when her boyfriend, Archie, proposes. But her excitement soon gives way to anxiety when she is swept up in her inlaws' ideas of the perfect wedding, complete with peacocks and a horse and carriage. To make matters worse, the plans have to be rushed so that her grandfather, whose health is failing, can attend the ceremony. Meanwhile, Archie has become increasingly distant, focusing entirely on his craft beer shop and leaving all the decisions up to Nat. If he isn't in her corner when it comes to the wedding arrangements and dealing with his horrible best man, Nat wonders what that means for the rest of their relationship.

He's Cancelled is a feisty new romantic comedy by Sophie Ranald, the author of Sorry, Not Sorry, It's Not You, It's Him, and Out with the Ex, In with the New. It links to some of the author's previous stories because some of the action takes place in The Ginger Cat, the pub from Thank You, Next where the characters from several of Ranald's novels hang out. However, He's Cancelled is a stand alone novel and will still make sense if you haven't read the other books.

This book will be relatable to anyone who has been involved in planning a wedding. It made me laugh in quite a few places while also bringing some sweet romantic moments. And as with all of Ranald's books, there is a cat in it.

This is also the first of Ranald's stories to be set during the global pandemic, although that only comes in at the very end. I'd be willing to bet, that like her other stories, this one helps a few people to smile during bad times.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
