Vintage Train to Ballarat and Ballarat Beer Festival and Dunolly Day Out

Join Vintage Rail Travel's annual heritage train to Ballarat for the Annual Ballarat Beer Festival on Saturday 24 January.

Travel in style aboard the exclusive private chartered Heritage Diesel Passenger Train to Ballarat for the day or stay with the train and continue for a Day Out to the central Victorian township of Dunolly.

The restored heritage train comprises of art deco style carriages, with an on board Cafe Hudson serving an assortment of freshly brewed coffees, as well as teas, cakes, soft drinks and light snacks. A fully licensed bar service will also be in full swing in the lounge car "708" with beers, ciders, wines and spirits all on sale.

The heritage train departs from Melbourne's Southern Cross Station at 9.15 am, arriving in Ballarat at 11.20 am.

Passengers can transfer to the free shuttle bus for the Ballarat Beer Festival or explore Ballarat for the day.

It is strongly recommended that passengers intending to attend the Ballarat Beer Festival pre-book tickets, as the event is very popular and has previously been sold out.

The fourth annual Ballarat Beer Festival offers a bustling celebration of boutique beer, gourmet food and an impressive list of Australian artists. Alternatively passengers can enjoy the afternoon exploring renowned sights, cafes and restaurants located in Ballarat.

For the afternoon tour to Dunolly, the train will depart Ballarat for Dunolly at 11.40 am, the train will stop at Creswick, Clunes, Talbot and Maryborough to pick up passengers to arrive in Dunolly at 1.25 pm.

Passengers will have over one and a half hours to explore Dunolly before the Vintage Rail Travel train departs to return to Ballarat and Melbourne at 3.00 pm stopping all stations to arrive in Ballarat at 4.40 pm.

The train departs Ballarat at 5.00 pm to return to Melbourne via North Geelong to arrive at Southern Cross Station at 8.15 pm.

    I went on this trip and it was great. Two diesel engines from the 1950's, and 10 carriages. Whole day affair, long day in all, but great.
