Each year, National Trusts across Australia participate in the Australian Heritage Festival. The theme for the 2022 Australian Heritage Festival is 'Curiosity', encouraging participants to "
actively wonder, investigate, and learn about natural, cultural, Indigenous, living and built heritage around the nation".
The event takes place from 1 April to 31 May 2022.&
#8232 ;&
#8232 ; During this period communities and organisations from across the nation highlight heritage events to showcase aspects of Australia's cultural history. This is an opportunity for the community to immerse themselves in our rich and diverse heritage, with guided walking tours around city and country streets, through cemeteries and old buildings with a past.
Demonstrations of lace-making and butter churning are on offer as well as static exhibitions in a shopping centre for easy access (boats and maritime-related).
Some events are no cost, such as an author talk at Logan Library about murders in the Logan Plantations in the 1880s, and range up to $120 for a history cruise on the Brisbane River.
There are events across Brisbane, and in Kilcoy, Miles, Toowoomba, Caloundra, Warwick, Allora, Childers, Noosa and more. The events are diverse and I have no doubt there is something for everybody - there are even functions catering to our younger community members.
A list of Queensland events has been released. See
