Here's how to have family fun and entertainment plus educate the children. Head off to the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show in picturesque bushland. The Darling Downs shows off its finest in agriculture, horticulture and lots more at the show, where things to see include the best in:
Dairy and Boer goats Woodchop Chainsaw King of the Bakers' Bread Show Leatherwork Pigs Apiculture - bee keeping

Interactive sideshow alley will help you bond with the children as they try their skills at the galleries. The rousing atmosphere will brighten any start-of-year blues.
There are special events with a difference this year with lots happening in the ring. If it's as exciting as the horse demonstrations by the Rooftop Express Show in former shows it will be fantastic. You'll have to attend to find out what the new events are. Sideshow Alley will be in full swing with rides and stuffed toys galore to win. Mobile rock climbing and other family entertainment will be on stage.
The show was the first of its kind in Queensland. Farmers realised its use in promoting improvement of stock and developing pastoral and agricultural resources. European agriculture shows were the inspiration for the show's presentation style, since many of the region's farmers have ancestry in Germany and England. This year brings the 153rd show, organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland (founded 1860) with over three hundred volunteers and staff.
Tons of sponsors love the Toowoomba Royal Show including Heritage Bank, Clive Berghofer Group, Homestyle Bake, Easternwell and XXXX Gold. Prices as listed with prepaid being $5 less, see the stand in Clifford Gardens shopping centre closer to the day. Address: cnr James St & Anzac Ave, Newtown, Phone: 07 4634 1371.
Hats are an absolute must, as is staying well hydrated. Could be dusty and dirty, but loads of fun. Oodles of parking.
The always serene Rotary Club of Toowoomba Family Park is a great place to grab a bite to eat.
