Baby sitters have let you down? Or you never had them organised in the first place? Then this place might be exactly what you are looking for. The Herdsman Lake Tavern (known by the locals as "the Herdy") caters pretty much for all sorts of casual family gatherings, but most importantly (for many of us, family people) – it has a reasonably sized kids' playroom with McDonald's style claiming tubes and slides.
This playroom is located right in the middle of the restaurant, fully enclosed, with 3 of the 4 walls fully transparent, allowing you (a paranoid parent!) to enjoy the view of your offspring from pretty much any corner of the restaurant. In addition, the younger ones can also venture to work at the colouring and crafts table, situated outside of the playroom, or have their face painted by a special fairy. This part will probably need to be supervised by an adult.
There is also a large TV screen for the footy junkies, and a decent pub-type food. Our stakes arrived nearly perfecto! And the kids chose from their own kids menu, which was under $10 per child and included 2 dishes and a choice of a drink. Great value for money, with vibrant atmosphere, this place should certainly be kept in mind as a nanny replacement alternative! Pin it to your fridge!
My co-author, Elizaveta (7yo), commented as follows:
"
I really loved this place because it was friendly. I loved climbing in the playroom with my friends, and I had a butterfly painted on my face. I'd like to go there again, one day".
