Herding Cats - Book Review

Herding Cats is the third Sarah's Scribbles collection, by writer and artist Sarah Andersen. Like the previous two collections, it is full of Sarah's odd sense of humour and wry observations about life- especially procrastination, social awkwardness, being an artist. As the title suggests there are also a few comics about her love of cats and how their cuddliness excuses any and all bad behaviour.
This volume also includes some advice for artists in the section "Making Stuff in the Modern Era: A Guide for the Young Creative" which talks about the way the internet has been a game changer for artists, but also how online bullying has made at times as harmful as it is helpful. Sarah urges artists to be brave and make stuff anyway, despite the "fire party" that is the comments section, in the hope that, gradually, positive change will come.
Herding Cats is not just a fun comic, but actually contains some pretty good advice for artists at all levels of their craft. It's an inspiring little book that hopefully will make you smile, and may even motivate you to go out and make stuff.
