HER PLACE Pop Up Exhibition will be held at the
Melbourne Town Hall 's 'Town Hall Room', corner of Swanston and Little Collins Streets, Melbourne from
16 May to 3 June 2016, between the hours of
10am and 5pm. It's free to attend.
This exhibition will introduce the aims of
HER PLACE Women's Museum , while highlighting nine amazing women who contributed greatly to Australia's social, cultural and economic fabric.
Of the women featured, you'll learn about the courage of Australia's first commercial pilot Deborah Lawrie; nurse war hero Vivian Bullwinkel; homeless and 'at risk' young people business activist Rebecca Scott, and the highly awarded Australian film editor, Jill Bilcock. Multi-media which includes the moving image, oral histories, text and objects will be used to delve into their stories.
In addition, there'll be a line-up of public talks that'll explore issues that affect women of all ages, and will cover topics like 'feminism today'; 'the impact of family violence'; 'women in sport' among others.

HER PLACE , through the exhibition, education and community programs is hoping to engage and stimulate the wider community about the achievements of women and invite your interaction and support.
Through these platforms and forums, audience surveys and interactive displays, you'll be able to share your ideas about the need for, and the future of the HER PLACE Women's Museum.
