The theme of Helm Bar is appropriate due to the location of this establishment. You get exceptional views of the marina area right near the Sydney Aquarium, and great waterviews along a part of Sydney Harbour.

The decor and the ambience is swish and trendy. Eating downstairs is kind of ordinary. It is great to head upstairs to the open balcony with a friend of yours and enjoy a warm Sunday afternoon at this establishment. This is why the ambience is great. The service isn't too bad either, although it is not always memorable. Not sure why that is.

Love their lemon, lime and bitters. On the drinks side they have hit the mark on quality at fairly reasonable prices. On the other hand their food leaves a lot to be desired. Their antipasto plate was quite ordinary. The items were quite tasteless, and the servings were quite stingy.

If you are in the mood for an afternoon drink right near the water, then Helm Bar is a great choice for a quick drink or two.
