Have you heard of ? They're a German-based company that deliver ingredients to cook a quick and easy meal straight to your door.

Like many others, I work full time, have a selection of go-to dishes that I cook on rotation and am always tired by the time I'm home. Fuss-free cooking and a variety of new dishes and flavours sounded enticing to me, so I signed up.

You can choose between 3 to 5 recipes per week, for 2 or 4 people. Up to a month before the delivery date, you can go online to have a look at their menu. They even calculate how much each serving costs you.

For each recipe you choose, the ingredients are portioned out which minimises wastage. Veggies and dry ingredients are organised into colour-coded paper bags, that also match up with a pretty recipe card. Other perishables like meat, dairy and sauces are packed in an insulated bag.

If you're going away, you can elect to skip deliveries without being charged. Or if there are guests, you can add an extra meal delivery instead. Did I mention there's an app for all this!

The time frames are large. I opted to have it delivered between midnight - 8 am, yet my order arrived at 11am. Luckily it wasn't too hot so by the time I got to unpacking the box almost 2 hours later, the ice packs hadn't melted and nothing had spoiled.

The paper bags can be quite bulky, so if you happen to live in a sharehouse as I do, I would recommend making sure you have enough fridge space. I had to unpack a lot of the root vegetables into the pantry to make room.

The ingredient quality was quite good. All of the vegetables were large and in good shape, with no bruising at all. The salad packs were fresh as well.

For meal one, I tucked into a steak with carrot-potato mash and fresh salad. The instructions were easy to follow and compared to premade meals, I have the freedom of altering cooking methods to my preference. For example, I wanted to leave out the gravy, and added my own seasoning and dressings to the sides. To change it up a bit, I decided to roast the rest of the veggies with different herbs so the meals didn't feel as repetitive.

Next, I had the teriyaki pork burger bowl with corn slaw and pickled onion. The pork burger was excellent, there was lots of aromatics included like ginger, garlic and lemongrass. Unfortunately, I found the aioli slaw a bit of a letdown as the meal felt too rich.

The plant-based beef & pesto ravioli with almond and pear salad was a surprise. I actually forgot the recipe was vegan; the filling did have a slight beefiness and chew to it.

I've yet to try the other meals, but you can always check my Instagram account if you'd like to be updated on how the other meals go.

Based on my experience so far, would I order again? Absolutely, as long as there's a discount. For this order, I claimed a 40% off new users deal which brought the total down to how much I usually would have budgeted for my meal prep anyway. It was fun cooking a different meal regularly and having all the ingredients ready in the pantry. Especially for those who are time poor but still enjoy some time in the kitchen, I'd recommend you give a go!
