Hello Harry along O’Connell Street in North Adelaide is one of a chain of restaurants where the ingredients for their burgers are prepared fresh daily in-store. The range of their burgers is wide, many of which can alternatively be made as a wrap.
The beef patties for their burgers are of the smashed variety, in which the patty is ‘smashed’ onto the grill as part of their preparation. This process gives the patty a firm texture while still retaining some juiciness. The bacon in the Bacon and Avo Burger was not overcooked and avocado added some moistness. Pickles added a tangy taste, which was balanced by the sweet red pepper relish. Completing the burger was mayonnaise for a hint of creaminess.

Their Buttermilk Chicken Strips had succulent flesh that was set off nicely by the crumb coating. The coating gave the chicken a slightly spiced flavour. Served with the chicken was house-made chipotle mayonnaise with a degree of spiciness that is suitable for those not used to spicy foods.

The portion size of the House Made Slaw is generous and can easily be shared. The shredded cabbage retained some bite and pickled julienne carrots added a hint of tanginess. For those concerned about the flavour of the Spanish onion, it was not too strong. Instead of the usual mayonnaise, green goddess dressing was used to give the coleslaw a tangy flavour.

Their Chips were of the thick-cut variety and were crisp and fluffy. The special seasoning that they were sprinkled with made them moreish without being overly salty. While tasty enough as-is, a house-made aioli dipping sauce came with them for those who want to add more flavour.

The style of Harry’s Famous Dessert Bombs was similar to an ice cream sandwich, with the bun flash-fried and rolled in cinnamon. This process made the bun crisp and light, with a taste similar to a cinnamon doughnut. Vanilla ice cream as the filling provided a foil to the cinnamon flavour of the bun. For the sauce, we chose salted caramel which had the degree of sweetness that we like.

Diners can choose from various non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages to accompany their burgers. Some of their beers are available to be ordered as a 2 L beer tower for sharing. The decor gave the place a casual feel. Diners have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating.
