The Hellenic Museum of Melbourne has recently launched a very interesting club for 5-13 year olds called the The Argonauts Club.

Its roots go back to a programme on the ABC with the same name which was broadcast in 1933.

This Club which features the myth of the Argonauts in ancient Greek mythology has a wider remit and hopes to engage children, schools and parents in a fun and adventurous look at history through games and exhibitions and interactive learning experiences.

The Museum will run workshops for the public at specific times throughout the year, the dates and times of which will be published on the Argonauts and Hellenic Museum websites and can be booked online. Workshops can be booked any time of the year for groups/parties or classes of 15 or more children. Workshops are also offered in conjunction with museum tours in order for children to gain a holistic understanding of Greek culture, history and art through the ages.

For enquiries, or to book a workshop, please email [email protected]

The best bit about this website is that when you click on it, the sounds of the sea can be heard, the waves lapping up against the sides of the boat. This alone has transported me and made me want to find out more about what is on offer.
