Amongst the Indigenous artists, dancers and storytellers across two weekends in February, join Uncle Larry Walsh, a local Aboriginal cultural leader and proud Taunwurrung man, for an hour of storytelling in the Heide sculpture park. Inspired by his local Aboriginal community, plus his own Kulin ancestral blood connections to his country, Uncle Larry is one of the only senior Elders in Melbourne who focuses specifically on storytelling, ensuring the cultural continuity of his ancient oral traditions.
The festival comes to a close in March with
Opa! Bato , the only 'Truba&
#269 ;ki Orkestar' in Australia performing authentic contemporary Balkan brass music from the rich traditions of Serbia, Macedonia and beyond. Bring a picnic and enjoy this summer at Heide for music, art and gardens. Head to the
website for more details.
Evolving from the home of Melbourne couple John and Sunday Reed in 1934, Heide Museum of Modern Art has become one of Australia's most important cultural institutions. They also play host to some amazing markets and in fact, the next market is the
Heide Xmas Market on
Saturday 19 Dec from 10am to 3pm. Find out more about the museum through the
FAQs and come along and support the launch of this event!
