They say good things come in small packages and this old adage certainly applies to the Heavenly Harvest Markets. There are no more than a dozen or so stalls at this stage but the markets offer a lovely, relaxed vibe in a prime clifftop location.
The location is divine - literally! Held in the garden at the back of St. Mary's church atop the Kangaroo Point cliffs, it affords a magnificent outlook onto the Brisbane River. Shaded tables and chairs are provided should you wish to sit and soak up the atmosphere and view.
With an emphasis on handmade, homemade and homegrown expect to find unique and quality goods which include handmade arts and crafts, soaps and candles, bags and hats, tomato relish and Grandma's Citrus Cordial.
There is a fresh fruit and vegetable stall, a baker selling fresh artisan breads and a one-woman juice stand where I was offered and purchased a delicious concoction of the proprietor's own invention for $5.
Set the kids down at the arts station, and take one of St. Mary's walk around tours of the historic church, indulge in a massage and reflexolgy session, or kick back with a cup of homemade pumpkin soup.
These gorgeous little markets run from 7.00am - midday on the first Saturday of every month. There is no onsite parking - access on foot via Main St or River Terrace - we parked at the cliffs and walked up through the park to the back of the church. For a family day out why not visit the markets, picnic or barbecue in the adjoining park, take a stroll along the clifftops and on your way back stop at the Cliffs Cafe for a Lick ice-cream!
