If you're in the Byron Bay vicinity for the weekend and are a lover of all things vintage, take a quick detour for an absolute must-see, in the heritage town of Bangalow (a 10 minute drive south on the Pacific Highway).

Here I found an eclectic range of treasures, from deco to retro and vintage antiques to industrial collectables. Time seemed non-existent as I browsed for hours through glassware, pottery, antique bottles, mirrors, retro kitchenware, books, maps, old coins, vintage biscuit tins; there is literally something for everyone! Don't forget to say hello to the friendly owners, Eva and Ross, and their gorgeous cat Zeb.

There is another reason to pop into Bangalow. Its fabulous Farmers Market, held every Saturday morning 8am to 11am, is famous in the region. It's impossible to leave without some tasty local produce, including the freshest, most delicious cordial I had ever tasted, by Rancho Limes' - the limes are grown in the rich volcanic soil of the Bryon Bay hinterlands.

Bangalow won't disappoint passerbys, and for collectors and food enthusiasts it is an absolute must.
