The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia is proudly hosting Heath Ledger: A Life in Pictures, a new exhibition celebrating Heath Ledger's creative process and deep passion for the film industry and the visual arts.

Curated by the Western Australian Museum in collaboration with his family, this free exhibition brings to Canberra a number of original film costumes and props, Ledger's own character research journals, celebrity portraits, acting awards, and much more.

Celebrate Ledger's screen career by exploring a display of costumes, including the Joker suit from The Dark Knight (2008), and the iconic shirts of Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist from Brokeback Mountain (2005).

Other highlights include Ledger's Best Supporting Actor Oscar and BAFTA for The Dark Knight and portraits by noted international photographers such as Karin Catt, Platon and Bruce Weber.

Complementing the exhibition is a chronological narrative of Ledger's acting career intertwined with his creative investigations into image-making under the influences of visionary directors Ang Lee, Terry Gilliam and Todd Haynes. Photographic stills and moving images offer a glimpse of Ledger behind-the-scenes and reveal his creative projects as a director.
