The second volume of Alice Oseman's bestselling LGBTQ+ romance graphic novel, Heartstopper, was published by Hachette Children's Group on 23 July 20219. It is 320 pages long and continues to explore the growing romantic relationship between Nick and Charlie.

At the end of volume 1 our two teenage heartthrobs, Nick and Charlie, finally kissed. Volume 2 picks up after Nick and Charlie's first kiss. Charlie is convinced that he has ruined his friendship with Nick and is devastated. But then Nick turns up on his doorstep and kisses him. It turns out that Nick has been harbouring secret feelings for Charlie the whole time. He just didn't realise what he felt was romantic until Charlie kissed him. Nick wants to explore his feelings for Charlie further, but also confesses to feeling confused. All he knows is that he doesn't want to lose Charlie as a friend and wants time and space to figure out his sexuality and his feelings for him.

I am so in love with this series. Nick and Charlie's relationship is so heartfelt and wholesome. There were so many scenes that stood out to me like when Nick and Charlie agree to become boyfriends and then run up and down the beach together screaming "I'm your boyfriend!" and "You're my boyfriend!" and then there was the scene when Nick overhears one of Charlie's friends talking about how much Charlie was bullied for being gay at school. Nick is so upset by what he hears he pulls Charlie into an emotional hug.

Heartstopper Volume 2 was a great book that spends a lot of time on Nick and his coming out journey. Oseman's message in the book is that everyone should be given the time, space and support that they need to figure out their feelings and identity. If you are looking for a cute story that will make your heart feel happy, please give these books a try. In addition to being great romance books, they are supportive of the LGBTQ community and bring awareness to issues such as bullying and mental health.

Summary: Nick and Charlie become boyfriends and grow closer.
