Heartlands Exhibition
Visit the Heartlands Exhibition in Dandenong

"Is it a photo?" That was the comment uttered as I looked at the oil painting "Prayer" by the artist Zorba. It is a stunning painting so real to life that you have to get right up close before realising it is a painting rather than a photo. "Prayer" is displayed alongside other insightful, creative and varied pieces of art at the "Heartlands" exhibition.

The exhibition showcases artwork entered in the Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize 2012. The prize celebrates the creative talent and social contribution of artists from refugee backgrounds who arrived in Australia after 1970. Artists who entered work in the exhibition come from over 20 ethnic backgrounds. This wide representation of cultural perspectives is clearly shown and celebrated.

The exhibition will be at the Walker Street Gallery in Dandenong from the 5th until the 28th of July.
