Having a child diagnosed with a heart condition at birth can be frightening for parents. You aren't sure what to expect, after all, the heart is a vital piece of equipment. Luckily we have fantastic doctors in Queensland to help you through, however sometimes it's nice to speak to someone who has been through it themselves and can take the time to have a heart to heart chat rather than a clinical discussion. That's where Heart Kids comes into the picture.



Heart Kids is a not for profit organization which started as a voluntary group of parents and individuals dealing with, and concerned about, the day to day realities of raising and caring for children with cardiac conditions and, sometimes, dealing with the loss of a child due to their congenital heart defect. Not only do Heart Kids offer a helping hand to parents of children with heart conditions, but they help to raise funds for vital research into heart disease. Fifty children a week are born with heart disease, and some have had ten or more operations by the time they are ten. Heart Kids need funds to help continue research into heart disease and to this end they are holding three BBQ and Bowls Fundraiser at the Northern Suburbs Bowls Club in Wavell Heights.



On Friday 29 January, Friday 26 February or Friday 18 March from 4pm, why not get together with friends for some fun for a good cause. Spend the afternoon and evening having some good natured fun barefoot bowling. After enjoying some exercise finish off with a scrumptious Barbecue (Steak, onions, sausages and salad included in the cost) with meat provided by Wavell Heights Quality Meats at 6pm. Hot dogs will also be available for $3.50. By joining in and meeting new people, you could be helping to provide some of the much needed funds to assist with research into childhood heart disease.



The is being held at the Northern Suburbs Bowls Club at 175 Edinburgh Castle Road, Wavell Heights, Qld on three dates, Friday 29 January, Friday 26 February and Friday 18 March.
