When you are on a health kick, diet or just simply trying to improve what you eat for overall health, it can be challenging at times to find healthy options when you go out for the day around the city. Although there are plenty of options that are
unhealthy, there are just as many healthy options which are affordable, delicious and full of great flavour. The question is, where? As I enjoy eating healthily (or try to!), I have previously written the article
6 Healthy Food Outlets For After The Gym (Or Anytime) - however there are still many more to discover.
There are, of course, the franchises around the city and shopping centres such as
Sumo Salad ,
Subway , a range of
sushi outlets,
Pita Pit ,
Roll'd and
Soul Origin , which are all perfect for a healthy takeaway at any time of the day. The following are 3 more healthy takeaway options that I have discovered and keep going back for more. If you have a favourite healthy takeaway outlet, please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your tip. When healthy food looks this good, why would you want to eat anything else?
Spud Bar, Garema Place
This small little takeaway outlet can be found in Garema Place, in the heart of the CBD. Its neighbours include Asian restaurants, bars, cafes and other popular eateries, however Spud Bar has its own popularity - especially with local city workers. What I personally enjoy about this takeaway outlet (where you can also opt to dine in), is that the meals are guaranteed to both be full of flavour
and keep you full for most of the afternoon. Choose between the wide variety of meat and vegetarian flavour combinations on the
menu , or make up your own personal choice with all your favourite toppings. If you are watching your carbs, you can also swap the white potato for a sweet potato and also check the
nutritional information online before you go. See

Thr1ve, Canberra Centre
Thr1ve is a health-conscious takeaway outlet in the
Canberra Centre , located downstairs in the fresh food section. This franchise has vegetarian options on the menu and everything is high in protein, gluten-free and has no added sugar. Put simply, they just serve up delicious, wholesome healthy food - where you can visibly see all the ingredients and taste their freshness. I personally enjoy the
Harvest Bowl, which is
"Scrambled eggs, spinach, corn salsa, avocado and pea smash, roasted pumpkin, super greens pesto and chives" for $11, however everything on their seasonally-changing
menu is tasty and more-ish! Also check out their offers on
deal websites , with deals such as a bowl and bottle of water for $9 - which is my kind of value! See
here for details.
EQ Bakehouse, Deakin
This popular bakery is located in Deakin, a short 5 minute drive south of the CBD. If you are in the area, the
EQ Bakehouse will surprise you with the range of healthy wraps, rolls, salads, quiches, pasta and lunchtime delicacies that will have you going back for more. It is located in the Equinox Business Park, with free car parking just out the front for 15 minutes or 1 hour parking down the side of the building. It doesn't matter what healthy option you choose at EQ Bakehouse, it will be jam-packed with flavour and fresh ingredients. The huge range of rolls are particularly popular - and also very filling! Whilst there, why not pick up some bread for the week, a cake for dessert or a takeaway coffee to keep you going for the afternoon. See

These are just a handful of healthy selections around the Capital to try. Which one is your favourite?
