Getting children under the age of 5 to eat food, and especially healthy food, is a struggle most parents know too well. Frankston North Community Centre is helping children and parents alike tackle this problem with their much beloved Healthy Bites Cooking Playgroup.
This playgroup is designed specifically for children aged 0-5 years learn to help cook, understand and try new and healthy foods in a kid-friendly environment. Held in their 'child-care' room, children have the opportunity to play with an abundance of educational games and toys or help create a healthy meal by chopping, grating and mixing with child friendly kitchen equipment. Parents can enjoy free tea and coffee while the children play or cook.
Children then are welcome to sit down for a plate of fruit salad and their delicious healthy meal they have helped create. Healthy Bites is a fantastic opportunity for children to not only learn to incorporate healthy food into their everyday lives, but it also helps them socialise with children their own age.
Healthy Bites Cooking Playgroup is held every Wednesday from 10am-12pm, at the cost of $2. Parents are also asked to bring a piece of fruit to share.
Parents wishing to attend Healthy Bites Cooking Playgroup during school holidays are asked to book in advance by calling Frankston North Community Centre on (03) 8773 9545.
