Your health, fitness and overall wellbeing should be a priority any time of the year, however, our busy and demanding schedules tend to get in the way of our goals. This can make us feel disheartened, disappointed and pretty lazy in regards to our inactive lifestyle. In saying this, we're extremely fortunate to have a variety of health, wellbeing and fitness events in Adelaide free of charge or for a small donation.
If you're the type of person who feels motivated and invigorated by exercising with others, then the twilight walk in Mitcham is an excellent addition to your schedule. This guided tour will show you the historical features of Mitcham and what better way to experience it all than on foot. A $2 donation will provide a 2 hour walk through the leafy sites, all whilst working those glutes simultaneously.
Heal Your Gut is a 45 minute presentation by health journalist Kale Brock, who intends to share the significance and role the gut microbes play in our health. This presentation is great for anyone wanting to learn the theoretical aspects of well being and gain an in depth understanding of how the body works. Hosted at Mitcham Reserve, this tranquil event will undoubtedly provide you with a serene and nature filled backdrop whilst you participate in a group yoga session followed by a nourishing vegan breakfast. We're all aware of the effects of stress, particularly when it begins to affect our daily activities. Unfortunately nowadays it's quite expensive to seek help or learn new coping mechanisms through therapy or online programs. However, The Burnside Library is hosting this $10 event for anyone that's interested in learning a range of stress management strategies and techniques, whilst identifying the signs and sources of stress itself.
The NEST Program aims to educate and assist participants on healthier food choices and food preparation and planning behaviours. This free six week workshop will focus on how to create low cost, nutritious healthy meals, whilst minimizing food waste. The classes will run from 6 pm - 8 pm every Wednesday at the Holdfast Bay Community Centre. Each week participants will learn about a new topic, cook a meal together and then end the evening with a delicious dinner.
Bek Smith, a physiotherapist, fitness professional, and wellbeing consultant who has spent the last 15 years studying the human body and psyche will be educating participants on how to feel great and understanding your body in the process. Bek implements diverse methods to help people improve their nervous system for optimal function, movement and thinking. This 90 minute workshop is $35 and includes healthy light nibbles and cold beverages.
