Dessert so good and you can work it off whilst here
You do not have to be a health nut to enjoy the decadent delights that await at the Health Bar.
Opening in what is quite a unique industrial setting is a relatively new little cafe called Health Bar. Attached to the well loved Mickey's Gym, the cafe has opened in response to the needs of the locals - wanting delicious, yet healthy snacks and meals.
The first time I heard about raw food I must admit, I really just thought about things being uncooked. However, it is an entire movement and once you have tried some raw cooking, your taste buds will be seeking it out as it is some of the most delicious foods I've ever tried.
With that in mind, just the mention of a raw cheesecake for morning tea was enough to get me zipping on down to the Health Bar.
They make their own wet Chai mix which is absolutely delicious with overtones of herbs, spices and fruit.
Great coffee is on the menu, as is hot chocolate made with organic raw cacao powder.
If you are looking for something to take home for dinner they have a refrigerator section, filled with ready made meals including pumpkin and ginger soup or, on the day that we popped in, they had delicious looking spinach tarts.
If you are looking for a quiet romantic cafe to gaze into your partner's eyes, this may not be the place for you, as it can be loud, especially when there are workouts in progress, but it is fun and I particularly love being away from the hustle and bustle and not having to struggle to find a car park.
We tried a few of their delights, including the raw cheesecake which was delicious and extremely light in texture.
The owners are passionate about all things to do with health and are interested in bringing in an entire range of healthy shopping options for you.
I popped in around 11 a.m. and suggested to the management that it would be a good idea for them to have more choices of treats in the fridge. They responded by advising me that the fridge was stuffed to the brim about an hour ago, but so many people have been popping in, they were almost sold out before lunch time - they will be increasing this to cope with the demand.
If the kids are a bit hungry after school, they have a range of lovely healthy snacks, including decadent biscuits and energy balls that would be just the thing to fill up a tummy without ruining their appetite for dinner.
Health bar is located in the industrial estate in Research, directly opposite the back section of Eltham College - just drive in and you'll see the signs promising great coffee they are open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. most days.
