Just ten minutes' drive from Paringa is the unique richly coloured Headings Cliffs . In honour of the four generations of the Heading family, these golden limestone cliffs have become a must-visit destination when in the Riverland region. It has unfortunately taken me a while to discover it, despite having visited the region many times.



The view is stunning either from ground level or from the tower platform. The steps up to the lookout aren't overly steep and should be doable for most. The 73-year-old lady who was travelling with me successfully reached the top with ease.



The road leading to the cliffs is sealed all the way. There's also plenty of parking at the cliffs, so those with long vehicles need not worry. Keep your eye out for the turnoff onto Heading Road which is signposted to Heading Lookout.
