I enjoy writing about Adelaide and its many attractions. If you think Adelaide is boring,
the problem is not with Adelaide.

As the owner of two active dogs I like to let them have a good workout a couple of times a week. A hard run and playing with other dogs in an off leash area is guaranteed to make them happy and tire them out, leaving them sleeping blissfully afterwards.
They love to visit the Hazelmere Reserve on Oaklands Road at Glengowrie, a large green space where on a fine day there are many dogs and owners exercising at any given time. It's by far the most popular place I've seen in Adelaide for owners to exercise their dogs.
While there is no dedicated exercise equipment for dogs at this reserve, the friendly atmosphere of the people and their furry friends more than makes up. People come from surrounding suburbs just to enjoy the pleasant dog friendly atmosphere. Despite the large number of people there I haven't ever seen a dog fight, although a few dogs can get quite boisterous in their play.
Fortunately these days many owners see the benefits of inexpensive dog training, which dramatically improves dog behaviour and saves money on your dog registration fees. There are also many simple things that you can do at home which will keep your dog happy and well behaved.
Shelter For All is Available
The Hazelmere Reserve Dog Park is also a magnet for children who often come from the playground next door to play with puppies. While weekends are definitely busier, even on a weekday you will always find other people here with their dogs.
It's a social occasion for all, with owners chatting while the dogs sniff happily around the park. A great way to exercise and meet like minded people, but please remember to pick up any droppings as the park is also used for sport at times.
