The Hawkesbury International Sand Sculpting Championships comes to the historic town of Windsor this summer for a strictly limited time.
Open daily from the 26th of December 2013 to the 26th of January 2014, this great school holiday event will showcase the detailed works of professional international sand sculptors - all competing for the title by intricately sculpting 20 tonnes of sand into their own personal interpretation of this year's theme - 'The Lost World'.
From the 26th of December to 29th December, come along and view the sand sculptors at work whilst they carve out their masterpieces - with the winner being announced on the Sunday 29th of December.
Then from the 29th onwards you and your family can view the magnificent finished sand sculptures in the beautiful new location of McQuade Park Windsor, located only 50 minutes from Sydney CBD.
Complementing the sand sculptures are a range of interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy, such as daily speed carving demonstrations, sand sculpting workshops and a full range of children's activities, including sand art, sand bottles, a giant sand pit, sand pens and the sand digger.
You can also vote for your favourite sculpture with the People's Choice winner being announced on Australia Day 26th January 2014.
My family ( $15) and I (concession $11) went in the afternoon of the 26th and some sculptors hadn't arrived and the other 9 were just beginning the sculptor. I came from the Central Coast to see it. What a waste of time and money. No drink or food stalls open and it was hot. What a rip off! The staff at the gate were almost apologising when we arrived and we wondered why. Guess those before us had complained. We were given a free return pass even before we entered!!!! I live on the Central Coast nearly two hours drive away. I sincerely hope no one else has been too early!!!
