The beautiful Hawkesbury Valley, just over an hour from Sydney, has long been known as the "Home of Artists" and is home to the Hawkesbury Artists and Artisans Trail.The Trail was created by Artists for Artists and its members are some of the most talented, and well-known Artists and Artisans in the Hawkesbury region.The Trail is a non-profit organisation which has been designed to promote local, professional and emerging Artists and Artisans and allows the visitor to meet our members in their own unique and creative environments.Members of the Trail will be throwing open their Gallery and Studio doors to the public, showcasing their talents and creations in their own studios, during our Annual Open Studio Weekend on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August, from 10am to 4pm daily. On display will be affordable Fine Art, Photography, Glass, Jewellery, Mosaics, Jewellery, and more.This premier event on the Hawkesbury Arts calendar gives visitors an opportunity to meet the Artists and Artisans and to see Artists at work as well as have the opportunity, to purchase affordable fine art direct from the Artist.Here you can find out the Artists stories and why they are driven to create.Some members will have guest Artists at their studios, so you will have an opportunity to see more of our Artists and Artisans in one location.Several of our members who teach across all mediums, will give demonstrations during the weekend.If you feel inspired during your visit to our studios, to unleash your creative spirit, please ask us about tuition or a workshop. And if you are interested in a commission our members will be only too happy to assist.
Hawkesbury Regional Gallery ~ Offers a changing and comprehensive program of Exhibitions as well as classes for Adults and children, and workshops as well as Artists Talks.
Trail member James Fletchers hand blown Glass creations are on display at the Gallery which will be open and here you can also see the Galleries latest exhibition as well.
Sophie Evangelidis ~ her work is inspired by the Beauty of Nature and she paints across mediums to create Paintings of Landscapes, Flowers, Still Life and Waterways. She is inspired by her environment in the Hawkesbury.
Yvonne West ~ is an Artist who creates paintings in Acrylics, Oils, Pastels and Mixed Media and her styles are Traditional and Contemporary in Still Life, Landscapes, Flowers and Nature. She is inspired by her travels and most recently her trip to the outback where she was inspired to create Abstracts of her surrounding and the Landscape in Central Australia.
Deidre & Satya Morrison ~ are a mother and daughter team and they will have their Richmond Art Shop/Gallery open and on display will be their paintings in a wide variety of styles and mediums.
They create paintings in Acrylics, Oils, Resin and Acrylic pouring. Subject matter includes Still Life, Urban Scenes, Landscapes and local views. They also run classes for children and Adults if you feel inspired to create.
Jeanette Starr ~ creates and displays her unique paintings and drawings in her studio on a historic horse stud at Grose Wold. Her Artworks covers a vast array of subjects and mediums and a favourite subject matter is Animals. She creates using Charcoal, Ink, Mixed Media, Oil and Acrylic as well as Pastel. She also runs workshops. There will be guest Artists at her studio at Bracken Stud.
Taryn Malzard with Nikkola Berrington ~ A studio in an old schoolhouse at Grose Wold is where you'll find Taryn and Nikkola. Taryn is an award-winning Pastel Artist and her Art works are well known for her subject matter of Animals, Landscapes and its realism. Taryn teaches workshops and runs classes for all levels of ability.
Nikkola will be in the studio with a selection of her Photography. She captures through a Camera lens a moment suspended in time. Inspired by Nature, her Environment, Landscapes and the man-made environment as well as her travels she captures a wide variety of subject matter from ancient buildings to the delicate form and colours of a flower in its decay.
Janelle Wymer ~ from intricate bead weaving and Polymer Clay to large scale Oil paintings and Mosaics, Janelle's work crosses through a variety of mediums, drawing inspiration from Nature and she loves using bold emotive colours. She runs creative workshops in her studio at Grose Vale.
Leanne Jones ~ is a Watercolourist who creates in her Studio at Kurrajong Heights and she paints in a variety of styles in both Traditional and Modern Watercolours on Paper and Canvas. She is inspired by Landscape and a sense of place. Her vibrant paintings often include Mixed Media and her Artworks address qualities of Transparency yet are marked by a strong use of colour.
